About The Department
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (AI & ML) was set up in 1983 with B.E programme. Ever since the dept has grown exponentially on all fronts such as infrastructure, courses & faculty. The dept has 9 computer centres with around 300 computers equipped with the latest hardware & software.
The state-of-the-art IBM OpenPower lab which delivers unparalleled performance for analytics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and modern High-Performance Computer (HiPC). The department hosts campus-wide networking facility with 10 servers (including high-end ones), Internet laboratory housing 60 computers with a dedicated leased line connectivity of 1 Gbps (wired and wireless) and a well-stocked library.

Hemanth C.S. and Mohamed Kamran, 4th semester students from AIML-A Section, secured Second Prize at the CODEFEST Finals, a national-level hackathon hosted by Anjuman Institute, Bhatkal, on April 12th and 13th. The duo qualified for the finals through an intense online round, where their team CYPHERNOVA was selected among the Top 29 teams from over 100+ entries nationwide.
Mr Shreyas Nagoor Named Runner-Up at IIT Bombay Techfest Hackathon 2024
In a stellar performance at the IIT Bombay Techfest Hackathon 2024, powered by Qualcomm, Mr. Shreya Nagoor secured the Runner-Up position, ranking among the Top 2 teams out of 450+ entries. He developed SafeDriveAI, an advanced ML-powered driver assistance system featuring voice authentication, facial and speech recognition, drowsiness and object detection, low-light vision, and traffic sign recognition. The project combined computer vision, voice processing, and natural language processing to significantly boost driving safety, comfort, and automation.

In a remarkable achievement, Mr. Shreya Nagoor, a third-year student, secured First Place at the prestigious Sparc 2024 AI Hackathon, held in October 2024. Competing against 130 teams from across the country, Shreya emerged as the winner, showcasing exceptional innovation and problem-solving skills in the field of artificial intelligence.
